Be Your Biggest Cheerleader

Updated: Apr 28

Hey SuperStar!

“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.” ~ Steve Jobs

What a beautiful quote to start this blog... a quote from the visionary Steve Jobs. Sometimes a visionary like you simply needs to be reminded to trust the inner voice that guides you.

In order to achieve your music career dreams and goals, you have to develop thigh skin along your journey. Did you know less than 3% of Americans write down their dreams and goals, and less than 1% take the time to review and rewrite them? Most people do not invest their time nor energy into goal setting or building their dreams, because they are afraid of the rejection of others or simply don’t believe it is possible for themselves.

Often this energy can be projected onto an ambitious visionary like you, who desire to show up differently in the world. If you are working to achieve a goal or dream, get ready - you will stick out from the crowd and it can make people uncomfortable. So, develop that thigh skin, become your biggest cheerleader and stay focused and keep moving!

If you are someone who has a clear goal, dream and desire for yourself and you are willing to do the work. It’s important to become your biggest personal advocate. You will find this is essential, if you plan to truly achieve your biggest dreams. You will experience support and you will experience moments where some of the closest people to you, such as family and friends may not see clearly what you are working toward and do not support you. In every moment, you have to be your biggest Cheerleader! Remember, the vision was given to you not them.

Your efforts will require great stamina specially to maintain a smile throughout the hard times. You can’t always depend on someone else to lift you up and keep you afloat. One way to help keep yourself motivated and focused is to speak positive energy into your life. What you say to yourselves, about yourselves affects your outcomes. When you speak positively it shifts the way you think and it changes your outlook on everything you encounter from day-to-day.

As an artist speaking positive daily affirmations will help create a positive thinking pattern. Daily affirmations are to the mind what exercise is to the body. It is important to keep yourself in high spirits. Build this goal achieving habit!

You create art that is in the forefront of others and is objective. You have to pour into ourselves by speaking positively so you think positively regardless of what you face or what people say or do not say. Repeating affirmations helps to reprogram the unconscious mind for success. By speaking positive daily affirmations to yourself, you will build internal strength, you will build a sled for negative energy to bounce off of.

Want to learn some creative ways to incorporate positive affirmations into your day. I got you... try the following:

  • Download the “Think” app and record your voice speaking positive affirmations to yourself and listen to it each morning.

  • Take a stack of stickies and write positive encouraging words and phrases on each sticky note and place on your bathroom mirror for a morning reminder.

  • Create a playlist on Youtube of your favorite motivational speakers to listen to throughout your workday.

  • Minimize your time or conversation with people who are not positive in action or speech.

  • Start with the words “I am.” These are the two most powerful words in the English language.

You can also write down 3 affirmations for yourself that affirm you having already achieved the 3 goals or dreams.. Here are some examples to start with:

  • I am happy and grateful that I am now earning $250,000 a year.

  • I am a joy to be around and work with in the studio and on tour.

  • I am a loving person who deserves to be loved by others.

  • I am a giving person who has lots of time, money and resources to give others.

  • I am successful at all that I do, everything I touch is successful.

  • I am a smart business partner who has a profitable music business.
